McCaskill’s “Missourah”

Many of you probably remember the radio and television ads during last years elections. Some of the most memorable came from U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill. One that stands out was entitled “From Here”. In it Claire points the finger of blame at her opposition and claims that they’re “not from here”, in case you didn’t know where “here” is she makes it perfectly clear when the voice on the commercial pronounces the name of our state by calling it “Missourah”.

This is no coincidence on almost every radio campaign ad she had out they pronounced the name of our state “Missourah”, or at least that’s the way the ads pronounced the name of our state “around here”.  Claire isn’t stupid and she wasn’t last year during the campaign season. Many Southerners and citizens of Missouri’s rural areas pronounce the name of our state “Missourah”.

So why did here ads reflect this? It’s simple, she was trying to identify with rural and Southern Missourians. She was trying to make us believe she was “one of us” but her recent voting records and public announcements on key positions reveal that she isn’t one of us, in fact she is the farthest thing from “us”.

An August 1, 2012 post , published on the Reboot Congress blog asks the question:Is Claire a Gun Grabbing Liberal?

The NRA and Republicans blocked the controversial UN arms trade treaty that would limit the right to civilian arms.

Further down Gateway Pundit lists the 51 Senators that signed a letter to President Obama encouraging him to stand up for the 2nd Amendment:

The letter was signed by U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Max Baucus (D-MT), John Barrasso (R-WY), Mark Begich (D-AK), Roy Blunt (R-MO), John Boozman (R-AR), Richard Burr (R-NC), Bob Casey (D-PA), Dan Coats (R-IN), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Thad Cochran (R-MS), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Corker (R-TN), John Cornyn (R-TX), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Jim DeMint (R-SC), Mike Enzi (R-WY), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Dean Heller (R-NV), John Hoeven (R-ND), Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), James Inhofe (R-OK), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mike Johanns (R-NE), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Jon Kyl (R-AZ), Mike Lee (R-UT), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Ben Nelson (D-NE), Rand Paul (R-KY), Rob Portman (R-OH), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Jim Risch (R-ID), Pat Roberts (R-KS), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Richard Shelby (R-AL), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Jon Tester (D-MT), John Thune (R-SD), Pat Toomey (R-PA), David Vitter (R-LA), Jim Webb (D-VA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

While there are Democrats on that list, Missouri’s Claire McCaskill is no where to be found. Why didn’t McCaskill stand up for the civil rights of Missouri gun owners?”

Claire has also “came out” in support assault weapons bans and Gay marriage, hardly representative of the conservative views held by most “Missourians”.

With this in mind I decided to dial up Senator McCaskill’s office and ask her staff the hard questions about Claire and “Missourah”. After dialing up the Washington D.C., Cape Girardeau  and Columbia offices to no avail I finally got through to the Kansas City office, which ironically , I think was forwarded to the Washington office, I heard a real voice!

Here’s kind of how the conversation went:

Senator McCaskill’s staff member ( in her best sorority girl persona): “Senator McCaskill’s office how may I help you?”

Me: “Yes I am a constituent of Senator McCaskill, not a very happy one I might add, from Southeast Missouri”

McCaskill staff member:  “And how may I help you?”

Me: “Yes do you remember Claire’s campaign commercials that referred to Missouri as “Missourah”?

McCaskill staff member: ” No I don’t recall that commercial”.

Me: “You don’t remember her trying to identity with Southern and rural Missourians when she called our state “Missouriah?”

McCaskill staff member: “No, sir I don’t see how…”

Me: “You know “Missourah”

McCaskill staff member: “Sir I don’t see how this is appropria…”

Me: “You know she calls it “Missourah” but her stance on Gay marriage and gun rights isn’t representative of “Missourah”

McCaskill staff member: ” Sir I will pass that along. Is there any thing else I can do for you?”

Me: “Yes can you please tell me what kind of shampoo and conditioner Senator McCaskill uses?”

McCaskill staff member: “Sir I do not believe that is appropriate”

Me: “Sure it is. Especially to those of us who live in “Missourah”. I just want to know how she keeps her hair so clean. I know it has to get filthy every time she sticks that head of hers up Obama’s a$$!”

McCaskill staff member: “Sir I’m going to put you on hold.”

For the record, I didn’t hold-Editor
