Hodges Campaign: Where is Jason Smith?

JEFFERSON CITY – Since Jason Smith was nominated to run for Congress he has missed 45% of the legislative days in Jefferson City.  That begs the question, “Where in the world is Jason Smith if he is not doing his job?”  Smith was nominated on February 9, 2013.
According to the recent FEC reports, Smith has not been in Jefferson City, in his home district, or even in Missouri.  Instead he has been doing everything but his job with expensive out-of-state trips to the East Coast.
“Jason Smith has neglected to show up for work,” said Hodges for Congress campaign manager Jake Breymaier.  “That would usually get you fired but apparently Smith has a different set of rules.  Smith has failed to represent his district on important pieces of gun legislation, tax cuts, and abortion laws.  Yet, that does not stop him from collecting tens of thousands of dollars in his taxpayer paid salary.”
In a video posted February 10th following his nomination, Smith told reporters, “I can multitask…I can handle a lot at one time and I don’t think it’s going to be any problem whatsoever”[1] in regard to running for office while remaining in the legislature.
“It has become a problem.  He takes his paycheck and turns the other way,” said Breymaier.  “Southeast Missouri deserves something more than a hollow promise to support their interests.”
“Steve Hodges is a consistent vote for his district,” said Breymaier.  “He breaks
with his party to vote their interests and will be an independent voice beholden to no one when he joins the U.S. House of Representatives.  Sadly, the same cannot be said for Mr. Smith who clearly does his job only when he can fit it into his busy travel schedule.”

  1. Pot, meet kettle. Hodges has been “out of office” during the campaign also. This is what happens when the Democrats basic campaign platform is “I can Republican too”.

    • If I were the Hodges campaign I would concentrate more on Jason Smith’s ties to animal cruelty and Monsanto.
