New President of NRA labeled “Neo Confederate”

Newly elected NRA president Jim Porter has been labeled a “Neo-Confederate” by Rockford , Illinois newspaper columnist Pat Cunningham who writes:

“The new president of the NRA is a good ol’ Southern boy, who sounds even crazier than the group’s gun-nut mouthpiece Wayne LaPierre.

Alabama lawyer Jim Porter [above] has called U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder “rabidly un-American” and proudly spews the Confederate line on the Civil War.

In a June speech, Porter noted the NRA was “started by some Yankee generals who didn’t like the way my Southern boys had the ability to shoot in what we call the ‘War of Northern Aggression.’ ”

“Now y’all might call it the Civil War, but we call it the ‘War of Northern Aggression’ down South,” Porter said to the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association.

He also advocates training all U.S. civilians to use standard military firearms so “they’re ready to fight tyranny.”

It really comes as no surprise that this “hit piece” comes from a columnist from Illinois a state which can boast of some of the most successful liberal logic, anti-gun laws and one of the highest crime rates in the nation.

As for the NRA’s choice of Jim Porter, I don’t think they could have found a better candidate to represent gun owners and the second amendment and let’s face it, the most conservative, constitutionalist portion of the country is the South and Southwest.

By selecting Jim Porter as the NRA’s new president, the NRA has solidified its base and in the process provided the South with an important ally against the liberal “culture” war that has been launched against it- Editor
