Racial Slur not Paula Deen’s Greatest Mistake

Warning: This article will contain some language that may not be suitable for all readers. That being said the nature of the subject means that this online publication will address this subject matter from an adult perspective.  We believe in free speech so we will not use the term “N-Word” everyone KNOWS what “N-Word” means so let’s all just be adults and have a frank discussion- Editor

Quite a firestorm was set off this week with the news of a lawsuit filed against Paula Deen , patriarch of an empire which revolves around Southern cooking, television shows cookbooks and endorsement deals.

According to the Chicago Tribune:

“The controversy surrounding Deen erupted earlier this week when a deposition was released in transcript form in which Deen, who is white, was asked if she had used the “N-word,” and responded, “Yes, of course.”

Asked about the epithet in the deposition, Deen said she had used the slur when describing, probably to her husband, how a black man robbed a bank where she was working in the 1980s. She said she had used the word since, “but it’s been a very long time.”

A former employee of Paula Deen Enterprises, Lisa Jackson, is suing Deen and her brother, Earl “Bubba” Hiers, in federal court alleging racial and sexual discrimination in the workplace. The deposition was related to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleges that, while discussing with Jackson plans for Hiers’ 2007 wedding, Deen said she wanted a “true southern plantation-style wedding.” She went on to say in the lawsuit, she would like to see “n-word” wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties. You know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around,” Deen said, according to the lawsuit.”

This is what we know for sure: Paula Deen used the word “Nigger” when talking to her husband while describing a bank robber who held up the establishment she was working for in the 1980’s. Let’s get one thing straight. If I were working in a bank and was threatened by a robber who was perfectly willing to commit violence in order to obtain money, if I were scared, upset , afraid and shocked at what had just transpired I probably would have referred to the perpetrator as a “Nigger” as well.

Deen admitted that it had been a “very long time time since she had used said word we are not supposed to mention. So what exactly is the problem? She has said the word in the past ( of which one of the times was referring to said bank robber) she doesn’t say it anymore . I ask again. What is the problem?

It doesn’t take much investigating to find where the REAL problem stems from. According to Reader Online.Com :

“A shocking racial slur against President Barack Obama is just one of the many explosive allegations in a bombshell lawsuit against celebrity chef Paula Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in Georgia on behalf of Lisa Jackson, a past employee of Paula Deen Enterprises.

Among the stunning allegations in the lawsuit: “In the presence of Ms. Jackson and Uncle Bubba’s restaurant manager and a vendor, Bubba Hiers stated they should send President Obama to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico so he could n***er-rig it.”

So there you have it. Bubba criticized Obama and that’s just something that can not stand. Since the first day of his first campaign  to be President, criticism of “Barry” has been strictly off limits. To criticize Obama is to be racist and if you just happen to be a millionaire who has an audience of millions and a brother who speaks his mind, your time on television will be limited.

Meanwhile, another startling confession has been made in which the media has not jumped on as was the case with the lawsuit filed against her. The Christian Post.Com has published a story which quotes a Georgia pastor who states that Deen certainly is not a a racist and did I mention the pastor is black? According to The Christian Post.Com:

“I know her. My children have been to her house. I’ve been to her house, I’ve sat on her furniture. I’ve been all through her house. What racist would let a black man walk all through her house?” Pastor Gregory A. Tyson, Sr., from First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, said during an interview with WTOC Friday..People are going to jump on it and believe what they want to believe and add what they want to add,” Pastor Tyson said. “But one thing I can sit here today and look you in the face and tell you is that woman can’t be a racist. She can’t have a heart against black people with all that she had done, and all she continues to do. That is why I’m here with you today to be a character witness for Miss Paula Deen because she is a beautiful person, a beautiful spirit.”

The Examiner.Com has a featured article which contains one tiny detail about the allegations contained in the lawsuit against Deen. That detail is the fact that: ”

Regarding the allegations that her brother regularly used the word at work when referring to employees, Dean replied, “I don’t know about that.” Deen’s lawyer called the allegations false.”

Another tidbit from the same Examiner article states that Jesse Jackson Sr. plans on “investigating”  Mrs. Deen but in a twist of irony The Examiner reports is that:

“Jackson has been under fire in the past for his use of the n-word. His disparages against President Obama were caught on tape when he stated, “Barack…he’s talking down to black people…telling n–s how to behave.”

Fox News commentator Todd Starnes declared ( in regards to the Deen lawsuit) on his Facebook Page:

“Jesse Jackson launches investigation of Paula Deen. Folks, it’s open season on Southerners.”

It is nice of Starnes to

finally come to the party. It has been “open season on Southerners” for quite sometime now , years in fact.  It started with the attacks against Southern heritage and symbols ( mainly in the form of attacks and allegations of racism against Confederate flags and monuments) those of us “in the know” have known for years that the liberals and race baiters would not be satisfied at erasing our history, they want our culture too, and they are going after it at full throttle, which leads us to our final thought.

Paula Deen’s greatest mistake was not uttering the word “nigger” in describing a bank robber who held up the place of business she worked in at gun point. Paula Deen’s greatest mistake was to go on camera and beg for “forgiveness” for being Southern in the first place.

One Response to “Racial Slur not Paula Deen’s Greatest Mistake”

  1. I don’t know what to make of Paula Deen – she (like many Southerners) unfortunately seems to suffer under the effects of Reconstruction. However, it’s a fine opportunity to speak out about Southern values – especially since this entire business represents another attack on the our people, culture, and history. As we all know, the Federal Government has tried to paint this region as being backwards and responsible for all their ills for the last 150 years. Meanwhile, they try to pretend to children in the public school system that the Fed and the supposedly “refined intellectuals” of the north have NEVER had a role in slavery, segregation, or the killing of human beings through abortion, nuclear bombings, and killing civilian women and children just because they happened to be in the wrong country at the wrong time.

Anyway, great article and very well written. Glad to see more and more people stepping up to return dignity and hope to our people once again.
