Retraction: Apologies to Ron Maxwell

Earlier this week the Marble Hill Constitution-News published an article purportedly written by Ron Maxwell ( filmmaker  whose credits include Gettysburg, God’s and Generals and Copperhead). The article came from the official Copperhead the Movie Facebook page and was critical of recent movie reviews regarding the film. copperhead

We have since learned that this article WAS NOT written or published by Ron Maxwell. I vowed not to remove the article until I had confirmation from Maxwell himself and received confirmation from Mr. Maxwell over the phone.

Mr. Maxwell states that he does not know who wrote the article or how it was published on the official Copperhead the Movie Facebook page. Furthermore Mr. Maxwell states that he does not know the intentions (good or bad) of the individual who perpetrated this hoax.

I talked to Mr. Maxwell for about 3o minutes and can honestly say he is a very honest, down to earth person who truly believes in America, the power of portraying American history accurately and cares very much for America’s past and it’s future.

Mr. Maxwell stated that during every screening of his latest movie “Copperhead” audiences gave standing ovations for the film and it has been received very enthusiastically.

Many thanks to Mr. Maxwell for taking the time to talk to a blue collar hillbilly living in the Ozark Foothills. It was an honor and a privilege Editor
