In Defense of the Rodeo Clown: Part 2

Just like a mushroom cloud the fall out continues over a rodeo clown’s depiction of President Obama at the Missouri State Fair Saturday night.  The Kansas City Star reports:

“The Missouri State Fair imposed a lifetime ban on the rodeo clown whose depiction of Obama getting charged by a bull was widely criticized by Democratic and Republican officials alike.

The rodeo clown won’t be allowed to participate or perform at the fair again. Fair officials say they’re also reviewing whether to take any action against the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association”

The Star also reported that:

“In a statement, Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill called it shameful and unacceptable. She noted that the fair receives taxpayer dollars and is supposed to be a place to celebrate the state.

“But the young Missourians who witnessed this stunt learned exactly the wrong lesson about political discourse — that somehow it’s ever acceptable to, in a public event, disrespect, taunt and joke about harming the president of our great nation,” McCaskill said in the statement.

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon’s press secretary, Scott Holste, said in a statement, “The governor agrees that the performance was disrespectful and offensive, and does not reflect the values of Missourians or the State Fair.”

Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder weighed in in a series of Twitter posts. Kinder said he loved the fair and planned to attend but said the clown’s performance reflected poorly on the state.”

It didn’t stop there. The Southeast Missourian reports:

“Perry Beam, an attendee who posted a photo of the event on Facebook, has said it had the feeling of a Ku Klux Klan rally. He said that, at one point, another clown ran up to the one wearing the Obama mask and played with the lips on the mask.”

Of course, a race bait scandal wouldn’t be complete without the Missouri House Democrats and The Missouri Legislative Black Caucus weighing in on the situation. Again quoting the Southeast Missourian:

“Missouri House Democrats have suggested the Republican-led chamber should form a special committee to investigate the incident and determine whether to continue providing tax dollars to the fair.

State Rep. Steve Webb, chairman of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus, said Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon should cancel the governor’s annual ham breakfast scheduled for Thursday at the fairgrounds. But Nixon spokesman Scott Holste said the governor did not plan to cancel the breakfast because of the “deplorable actions that took place during this one event.”

I have only one question and it goes out to all of the Liberals out there crying foul.  To Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, Claire McCaskill, Governor “Pie-Face” Jay Nixon, the Missouri Democrats and especially to the professional victims over at the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus: Where were YOU in 2009 when your GOD, he who can not be criticized, Barack Hussein Obama, compared his bowling to that of the participants in the Special Olympics?

There WAS video of this but it is being “cleansed” from Youtube as we speak. Luckily the Huffington Post still has the transcript up. Here is the relevant part of it:

“Even before Barack Obama’s interview on the Tonight Show had aired, the White House was working to tamp down a hubbub over an off-hand joke the president had made.

When Obama told Jay Leno that he had recently bowled a 129 score, Leno replied dryly, “That’s very good, Mr. President.” Obama chuckled and said it’s “like the Special Olympics or something.”

Where was your “outrage” at this statement? Where was your outrage about the President of the United States making fun of special needs children of all gender and races?

The Huffington Post also had an online poll on this matter. Here are the results:

Obama’s joke about the Special Olympics was…

Just a light-hearted, self-deprecating comment. Get over it people.

26.6%

Maybe a dumb thing to say, but he didn’t mean it in a mean-spirited way, and it is pretty funny.

25.52%

A tasteless comment that he should not have said, period.

27.32%

Why are we even talking about this?

20.56%

Only 27% of you were “outraged” at President Obama.  While the rest chalked it up to a non- issue, or just a dumb thing to say or just “light hearted”. The hypocrisy never ends. The Democrats will not tolerate criticism of their God while the Republicans just shake their head and whisper “shameful”.
Today I propose we make the Rodeo Clown the official mascott of Missouri. Sign my petition!
