Famous Canadian Freeman Leader, Dean Clifford Arrested

Recently the Constitution-News published an article and Red Ice Radio interview about Dean Clifford a famous Canadian Freeman Movement leader.  Listening to the interview Mr. Clifford had talked about some very interesting ideas about individual freedom and sovereignty.

I was scanning news reports today and learned that, Clifford, last month, was arrested during a seminar he was teaching. Clifford has been quoted as stating that , “95 per cent of what government is doing is absolute rubbish”

According to CBC News:

Dean Clifford, the so-called guru of the Freemen-on-the-Land movement, was arrested Sunday night in Hamilton on a Canada-wide warrant.

Plainclothes officers from the OPP’s Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad (ROPE) nabbed Clifford after he hosted a two-day “Divestment from Corporations and Detaxation” seminar at the Hamilton Marriott.

The Canada-wide warrant was issued by Winnipeg police, who allege Clifford assaulted police, resisted arrest and obstructed police in the province.

The charges stem from an incident at a traffic stop in Winnipeg on July 13, according to Const. Eric Hofley of the Winnipeg Police Service.

“The warrant is a result of subsequent checks of court-imposed conditions which revealed that he was in breach of his recognizance,” he said.

Clifford was scheduled to appear in a Winnipeg court on Aug. 21, but didn’t show up. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Hofley would not specify what happened at the traffic stop that led to the charges. “I can’t say anything because it’s still before the courts,” he said.

In Hamilton, police usually outline the circumstances that lead to an arrest.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police news release, Clifford “is currently in the process of being returned to Manitoba

Time4TheTruth.Info issued an update on Dean Clifford’s arrest stating:

FROM DEAN HIMSELF – DO NOT FILE ANY PAPER WORK ON HIS BEHALF!!! THINGS ARE BEING HANDLED.

It is Alleged that:

Dean Clifford was unlawfully handcuffed and arrested just after the November 23rd-24th seminar by Police who were reported to have refused to produce any identification or a warrant for the arrest when asked by a multiple of people outside the event.

According to Clifford’s website,  in regards to the above quoted CBC News article representatives of Clifford claim a warrant was never issued for his arrest and that Canadian officials are doing anything they can to hinder his legal process…

he authorised representatives have been able to speak with Dean directly.

Dean has been in court every day since his arrival to the Winnipeg Remand Centre since his kidnapping on Nov 24th.

He has not been allowed to speak at court hearings in which they have been scheduled right at the end of the day and with limited time. After adjournment, he is escorted back to his cell.

There are departments that are integral to the judicial process which are refusing service and doing what they can to hinder the case.

During communications between Dean and authorised representatives, calls have been disconnected at crucial periods of the conversation.

Dean has been moved from solitary confinement to general public at the Remand Centre, and has been afforded writing materials. Court filings have begun.

In regards to the recent CBC article, 24th Nov in which they claimed “Clifford was scheduled to appear in a Winnipeg court on Aug. 21, but didn’t show up. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest.” According to the Manitoba Court website there is no record of any such schedule up to this date of this posting.

The last hearing was back in February 2013 on another matter in which that case had all 11 trumped up charges dropped and the case was Struck Off and closed. There has been no other case recorded or pending after this event.
